Relief Society Activity Invitations

My favorite part about being on the activities committee is putting together the handouts. Forget about the activities, I just want to look at something cute. :)

Here's a few of the handouts I created this year for our church's women's organization. Feel free to use any of our ideas and if you'd like any blank or customized files, check the bottom of the post for more information.

"Let's Break Bread" - this was a fun activity. We had demonstrations for all different kinds of bread and samples to try. Everyone left with good food and some new recipes to try out.

"Sew, Let's Serve" - for this activity we partnered with a local lady who works all year to put together comfort kits for homeless and underprivileged children in our community.

"Simplify. Socialize. ^eat Salads. This was one of our social nights. Everyone loves a good salad, so we had sign ups to bring everyone's favorite. We ended up with pasta salad, green salad, fruit salad, pretzel salad, and had a blast eating and socializing together.

In partnership with our local friend again, we helped with a donation drive to contribute to the home offices for our local DCS (where foster children go when they have nowhere else to be) and continued helping with comfort kits for United Way.

We have a yearly dinner for the women in our ward and this year we focused on our family traditions. Each table had a centerpiece with different traditions from the women in our congregation and it was fun getting to see what other families traditions are.

If you'd like a blank or customized version of any of these invites, email me at

Monthly Memorization: September 2016

August was busy. July's quotes have been up for two months, so it's about time I changed them out for new inspiration!

Mother Teresa is one of my favorite people. She was truly "an example of the believers". I love this quote from her and want it to be one of my lifelong mottos.

The scripture for this month is Isaiah 54:8.

Happy memorizing!

August 2016 Visiting Teaching Message

The August Visiting Teaching Message is: "Nurturing Families Together". You can find the message here.

There were two talks that stood out to me and that is where I chose my quotes from.

The first was a talk by Elder Russell M. Nelson called "Salvation and Exaltation".

I loved that he called the home "God's laboratory of love and service." Sometimes I think we, and I especially, can focus too much on the external appearance of our Christ-centered lives. I worry too much about making sure my family appears perfect, instead of realizing that a "laboratory" is a continual experiment where we adjust and readjust our attempts at perfection. God's laboratory is a perfect place to teach love and service, and as we teach those two attributes, all the other attributes we desire our family to have will come as we bring the Spirit into our homes.

I also loved the quote below. Again, sometimes I can focus more on external activites like callings, friends, hobbies, and fail to succeed at the most basic and important responsibility I have - to be faithful to my husband and love my children. Everything else is extra, I have to keep reminding myself of that.

The other talk I loved from this message was by Sister Linda K. Burton called "We'll Ascend Together". It is a fabulous talk, especially when you're trying to strengthen your relationship with a spouse. There was a line there that stood out to me. She said: "how often do we intentionally 'speak kind words to each other'?"

I thought about that a lot as I read the message: not just in my family but with others around me - my neighbors, friends, ladies I visit. How often am I kind just for the sake of being kind? If you are like me, it may not happen often. So, I made it a point to write out a kind note for each one of the sisters I visit. I've included the little note template I used - you can insert into a word document and print 4 or 6 to a page.

I'm not sure why I was feeling black and white this month, but it is what it is.

Happy visiting!

Little Man Baby Shower Template

My little sister is pregnant and I'm overly excited. I have two of my own kids but ZERO nieces or nephews.

We are throwing her baby shower in a couple of weeks and she wanted a little man shower. I used this invitation as my inspiration and came up with one of my own. I wanted to make the template available so anyone who needs a quick and easy invite can use it. It is a 5x7 size and you can add text to it on

Here is the file to download:

And here is an example of the invitation wording and format.

Monthly Memorization: July

If you missed last month's post about monthly memorization you can find it here.

One of our new family goals is to work on memorizing a verse of scripture and a uplifting quote every month. Even if our kids (1 & 3) don't memorize it, we want them to hear us repeating to them in the hopes that what they hear eventually becomes their inner voice.

This month's scripture can be found here and the quote (which is one of my personal favorites) can be found here.

Happy memorizing!

July 2016 Visiting Teaching - Our Potential for Parenthood

The July Visiting Teaching message is "Our Potential for Parenthood". You can find the message here.

I especially loved the section from Elder Andersen's talk in General Conference where he mentioned an article posted on entitled "Motherhood Is A Calling". It is probably one of my favorite articles on motherhood from a fabulous Christian mother. In it she says:

"Motherhood is not a hobby, it is a calling. You do not collect children because you find them cuter than stamps. It is not something to do if you can squeeze the time in. It is what God gave you time for."

It was a good reminder for me to appreciate the blessing it is to have my own children and that I need to use that blessing to work good in the world by dedicating myself to my children while I have the opportunity.

All prints are available for free for personal use only. You can find a blank version of the first printable here.

From Elder Dallin H. Oaks talk entitled "The Great Plan of Happiness".

And from the Bible: Psalms 127:3.

Happy Visiting!

My sister is getting married next month and I'm throwing her bridal shower. I put together these darling little invitations for the shower and wanted to share the blank version so you can add text for any occasion, a quote, whatever floats your boat.

Here is an example of what a bridal shower invitation would look like.

And here is the blank 5x7 file for personal use only. Watercolor floral images can be found at Angie Makes.

Polka Dot Facebook Cover Photos

Social media world can be a pretty negative place, but it doesn't have to be that way. I've been trying to create a positive social media presence and one thing I love doing is sharing some of my favorite uplifting quotes in my Facebook cover space. It's easy, quick, but I know it has the potential to share positivity with someone and that makes me feel good. And who doesn't like to feel good?

Share away!

Polka Dot Background

My baby boy is turning one in a couple weeks. I've never been a big fan of themed parties for little kids because they don't know what's going on anyway, so I usually stick with a few colors I like and keep it simple.

I put together this little polka dotted background and added text and font on top for the invite. I thought I'd provide the background for free and show an example of what you can do with it.

Monthly Memorization: June

We just started a new tradition in our home - which I stole from my parents.

Every month when I was at home (and especially when I was homeschooled) we memorized a scripture and a quote of some kind. As we got older the verses got longer and the quotes turned into poems and passages. I didn't see the value in it when I was younger but now I realize that those memorization exercises were less about memorizing and more about teaching truth to our young hearts.

So, I wanted to start now as I focus on my little ones (3 and 1) and help them to have hearts that are soft and kind, and able to feel for others as well as themselves. And there's no better way to do that than by repeating often phrases and verses that will strengthen each member of our family and help us become better together.

Our command center has two clipboards for this purpose - I plan on changing them out every month as we work on different quotes and scripture verses. Feel free to join us!

May Visting Teaching: April Conference Quotes

For the month of May, the visiting teaching message is to choose any talk from the April 2016 LDS General Conference and share it.

I chose to create some free printables of quotes from my four favorite talks to share with my sisters this month.

From Elder Holland's talk: "Tomorrow the Lord Will Do Wonders among You"

From President Uchtdorf's Talk: "He Will Place You on His Shoulders and Carry You Home".

From President Eyring's Talk: "Where Two or Three Are Gathered".

From President Monson's Talk: "Choices"

Ice Cream Treat Teacher Gift

Teaching dance is one of the best decisions I ever made. We have our Spring Recital next weekend so this week was the last week of classes with my girls. I try to get them something special for the end of the year so they leave feeling special and excited to be on the "big stage". This year it was these Target lipglosses for the win. The ice cream cones? Killer. The pink and purple? Crowdpleaser.

Twelve glossies for $5, you can't beat that

Add a little cheesy note that no one will read, check.

They were a hit.

If you want to recreate these - you can find the lipglosses at Target and the printable below. Happy end of year to all the teachers out there!
